Paul Somerville

General Manager

Paul is tasked with overseeing the company’s financial, operational and strategic operations. Since starting the role as the General Manager, Paul has been instrumental in successfully gaining Centrals Federal Safety Accreditation and implementing stronger financial and operational controls.

Before taking on the role of General Manager in 2017, Paul acquired a wealth of experience managing HR, HSEQ and the Plant Department. This included the management of mine site operations and covered all aspects of heavy plant maintenance.


Mark Giudice

CFO

Mark is a Chartered Accountant with a demonstrated history of working in the earthmoving and maritime industries, as well as in public practice.

As CFO of Centrals, he has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and running of all the finance activities of the company, including financial control, budgeting and capital management.


Gary Patterson

Commercial Manager

Gary is a committed professional with commercial experience in a wide range of industries, including agriculture, construction and mining.

As Commercial Manager, Gary manages the tendering and commercial functions including contract negotiations, project financial performance and subcontract management. His practical experience, along with tertiary qualifications in science, business, safety and training, assists Centrals in achieving better performance, and fostering a culture of compliance, risk management and continuous improvement.

With strong leadership and management skills, Gary works with tendering and project teams to implement improvement strategies, provide mentoring and advice, and achieve business goals.


Bill Phillips

Operations Manager

Bill has more than 20 years of experience, working with industry leading organisations, in civil construction. He has delivered civil construction projects valued from $1m to $100m across Australia. He has significant experience in dealing with all aspects of earthworks, road construction, municipal underground infrastructure and mining construction.

As the Operations Manager at Centrals, Bill is responsible for overseeing the operations of all civil sites and civil construction work on mining sites as well as seeking new business and estimating management.

Bill’s substantial experience is supported by relevant qualifications and a continuing focus on further development and training.


Matthew Smith

Mining Projects Manager

Matthew Smith (Arch) is the Mining Projects Manager, and oversees daily operations and finances for various sites based throughout Western Australia.

More than 10 years onsite mining experience in Mobile Crushing, Underground Haulage and Maintenance, Site Services and ROM Management has equipped Matthew with a reality of what is required from his various clients, sites and personnel needs on all levels. Matthew currently manages 5 mine site service contracts and approximately 70 personnel.


Meagan Smart

HSEQ Manager

Meagan is a multi-disciplinary HSEQ/Sustainability Professional with extensive heavy industry experience, across several industry sectors, including construction and operations in surface & underground mining, oil & gas and infrastructure. She is a Certified Chartered Generalist OHS Professional (ChOHSP) and holds Masters Qualifications in Occupational and Environmental Health & Safety, an Undergraduate Degree in English and Comparative Literature & Theatre and Drama and is nearing completion of a Masters of Business Administration.

Throughout her career, in addition to the core responsibilities of HSEQ/Sustainability, she has held responsibility for security, community, stakeholder engagement, training, emergency response, injury management and workers compensation.

Meagan is an Expert Member of the Mining industry Advisory Committee (MIAC), which is a statutory body advising on matters relating to occupational safety and health in the Western Australian mining industry.


Leigh White

Asset and Plant Manager

Leigh White is the Asset and Plant Manager and oversees Workshop, servicing and maintenance of mine site and civils equipment, fleet mobilisation and demobilisation on both mining and civils, overseas the Company purchasing function as well as buying and selling machines. Leigh manages over 100 machines and vehicles.

Leigh has over 15 years’ experience in machinery maintenance, is a Heavy Diesel Mechanic and has had vast experience on mine sites and breakdown fitting.


Miles Obst

Vegetation Manager

Miles has over 25 years’ experience in the Landcare and Vegetation industry making him a specialist in mulching for land management, fire mitigation, construction and asset management.

He commenced his career as an operator and has been instrumental in building Central Earthmoving’s Landcare Division into a leading state-wide service, known for its safety, sustainability, environmental sensitivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Miles is renowned for innovatively customising plant and equipment to suit specific ground conditions. He focuses on providing certainty to clients looking to minimise environmental impacts in sensitive and high risk areas.
