Centrals are very happy to have won the Construction of Road Improvements – Indian Ocean Drive Stage 2 – Leeman to Brand Highway for MRWA.

The project will commence early in late January and continue through most of 2024.

This project included the earthworks and civil construction for the Monty Project (Monty) located approximately 10km east of the existing DeGrussa Copper Mine and located approximately 900km north-east of Perth in Western Australia. Nullagine Iron Ore Project - Warrigal Haul Rd Construction

This project involved the construction and seal of 7km of bitumen haul road.  The road was constructed in challenging terrain with several large creek crossings and including tie-ins with existing haul roads, requiring interface with heavy haulage traffic.  The scope of works comprised clearing, grubbing and stripping of topsoil; earthworks; borrow pit management and rehabilitation; pavement construction (subgrade, subbase and basecourse placement); drainage including culvert and floodway installation; and traffic management.

Horwood Road Deepdale - Subdivision Works

Centrals undertook the earthworks and civil works for the Stages 1 and 2 of the Deepdale by the River Estate, located ten kilometres from Geraldton’s CBD. The scope of work for these 63 lots included: bulk and detailed earthworks including clearing, excavation, and materials handling and management; road and associated works; stormwater drainage, including large, stabilised swale drains and sumps; water reticulation; underground power services; and communications infrastructure installation, including NBN.

Exmouth - Town Centre Revitalisation

This project was delivered in four stages to revitalise the townsite of Exmouth – Western Car Park and Thew Street extension; Thew Street reconstruction; Kennedy Street reconstruction; and Western Long Vehicle Car Park and existing Learmonth Street upgrades.  The scope of works comprise:  demolition of pavements and buildings; construction and reconstruction of roads and intersections; diversion of existing open drain and culvert installation; construction of new carparks; and construction of sewer reticulation services; traffic management; site and public safety measures; and community relations.

Bringo & Glengarry Stations - Mid West Rail Upgrade Civil Works

This project involved the widening of embankments and cuttings to accommodate wider track on the Geraldton – Mullewa line between the Glengarry and Bringo Stations. Centrals were responsible for foundation preparation, embankment construction and compaction, and laying of erosion control infrastructure, as well as the installation of culverts and drains with cement stabilised backfill to improve surface water management along the track.   In addition to the construction, Centrals were also responsible for traffic management and rail safety during these works.

Arcadia Waters Geraldton - Subdivision Works

This 17 lot project comprised earthworks, civil works, roads and associated infrastructure, services installation, limestone boundary walls, fencing and gates, landscaping and improvements associated with the expansion of the Arcadia Waters Retirement Village in Geraldton.  The large amount of rock encountered during deep sewer excavations, coupled with the works being undertaken in required alternative, previously installed services which had not been detailed, and the fact that the works were conducted in a high density residential area, presented some challenges to Centrals during their management of these works.

Seacrest Estate Geraldton - Subdivision Works

Centrals have undertaken several stages of the Seacrest Estate, located six kilometres from Geraldton’s CBD, including: Stage 14 Earthworks and Civil Works for 86 lots Stages 7, 8 and 9 Earthworks and Civil Works for 280 lots Stages 5 and 6 Earthworks and Civil Works for 105 lots Miscellaneous earthworks and civil works, as required. The scope of works for all stages included: bulk and detailed earthworks including clearing, excavation, and materials handling and management; gravity sewers and manholes; stormwater drainage; road and associated works; retaining walls; water reticulation; power and communications installation; and landscaping.

Golden Grove Mine - Airstrip Upgrade

These projects involved reshaping the footprint of the strip and upgrading drainage. The strip was sheeted with 150 mm gravel, sealed with sand seal; and line-marked. The result was an all-weather airstrip which could cater for larger aircraft.  In the second stage, the sand seal was removed; drainage was further upgraded to include the runway apron and carkpark; clearing was undertaken to provide a 30 degrees sight zone for pilots (a safety requirement); two-coat seal applied to the runway, apron and carpark; linemarking; strip lighting; and solar powered wind sock.
