Airstrip Upgrade

These projects involved reshaping the footprint of the strip and upgrading drainage. The strip was sheeted with 150 mm gravel, sealed with sand seal; and line-marked. The result was an all-weather airstrip which could cater for larger aircraft.  In the second stage, the sand seal was removed; drainage was further upgraded to include the runway apron and carkpark; clearing was undertaken to provide a 30 degrees sight zone for pilots (a safety requirement); two-coat seal applied to the runway, apron and carpark; linemarking; strip lighting; and solar powered wind sock.
